Tiger Ann is getting old enough to understand that her parents are different from her friend's parents. People say her parents are slow. A crisis in their family circle brings Tiger an opportunity to escape her parents and build a new life in another community. This is a valuable lesson in true love and sacrifice. Anyone who relates to someone who is not 'normal' might enjoy this book. 

This felt like a bit of a crossover between middle-grade and young adult. It is a coming-of-age story.
