An Israeli woman who grew up in the shadows of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, moves to the United States and meets a Palestinian woman. On neutral ground, these two who are technically enemies get to know each other. They watch their sons play and secretly each thinks about the possibility of them growing up to fight each other... Their friendship inspires Mrs. Baum, a professional storyteller, to share both sides of the story and promote peace in Palestine. A large part of the story is dedicated to telling how she produced her 'show'. I found that part a little tedious, but enjoyed much of the book. The audio version, read by the author, is totally worth it. I love how she replicates the voice of each character, especially her cantankerous, irascible, vociferous, vulnerable mother. I love how she comes to understand her mother in the end of the story.
