A Lantern In Hand is like an adult version of the Little House books. Abbie Deal, a pioneer wife on the Nebraska plains, was made of strong character. This novel follows her life from a child into old age, through a very difficult life. Abbie chose to marry the man she loved instead over wealth and success and she stood faithfully by him through tremendous hardships. This is an excellent book to read when you're tempted to feel like you have a hard life!
