Susan Cain

If you enjoy non-fiction, this is an interesting, scholarly, yet informal read. It doesn't matter if you identify as an introvert or extrovert, the book will help you understand more about yourself. It will also help you navigate relationships with the opposite of whatever you are, which we we all tend to be attracted to, be it a spouse or a best friend. Understanding, for example, that extroverts are chemically wired to think out loud and introverts must carefully ponder before knowing what they think is helpful information in a relationship.

The author argues that our cultural prefers and encourages extroverted behavior while tending to overlook the needs and contributions of introverts. If you've felt like you need to remake yourself in order to be socially acceptable, you should find some comfort in these pages. She includes various research and anecdotes and a chapter on raising introverted children.
