Nancy R. Pearcey

This might be my favorite nonfiction book of the year. Cultural apologist, Nancy Pearcey, provides deeply comprehensive, but readable arguments against theories liberal culture is promoting. She dissects the evolutionary-based dualistic beliefs that allow people to think abortion, euthanasia, homosexuality, transgenderism and the hook-up culture are acceptable and even important. This would be a good resource for engaging with someone on any of these topics.

Pearcey clarifies many things about the moral chaos of our current generation. The fact is, behind a facade of liberation, rights and acceptance, lies a world of dehumanization and degradation of the human body. A low view of the body destroys healthy human bonds. Natural social constructs, such as home and family, give way to purely feeling-based connections. The author uncannily compares our cultural situation to the debauchery of ancient Rome. I appreciated the biblical solution she offered in closing. Highly recommended.
