The Swiss Family Robinson can be criticized by an adult reader: things seem to be made a little too easy and convenient for this shipwrecked family, and they remember and know more about the uses of what they find than is probably realistic. However, I loved this book as a child. The idea of being lost at sea and surviving in the wild is an entrancing one. The Robinson family is Christian with good values, and they are always thanking God for helping them. It is long and old-fashioned in style but has enough exciting adventures to keep an older child turning the pages.
